Academic Management of the Training Program

Nursing Degree Coordination

The Nursing Degree program by the University of Valladolid is designed so that throughout the first five semesters, students acquire the skills that allow them, in a progressive way, to acquire a basis in the nursing discipline both from the theoretical point of view as well as from a conceptual and methodological one, while consolidating knowledge that facilitates decision making, the ability to use critical judgment, empathy and responsibility. Throughout the remaining three semesters which complete the four years of training, students must acquire the skills that enables them to demonstrate their theoretical knowledge and apply it in the practice, acquiring not only skills but also the ethical and professional commitment  that is demanded from a nursing professional and that it is essential to join ??health workforce; the definitive demonstration of the achievement of all the competences, as well as the integration of all the knowledge, must be justified in the elaboration and defense of the final project, which under the direction and tutelage of the corresponding teacher assigned, the student must demonstrate the skills  to receive his degree in Nursing from the University of Valladolid.

Achieving all the planned competences will require completing 240 credits, which will be distributed as follows: 60 credits for basic training, 84 credits for compulsory subjects, 6 credits for optional subjects, 84 credits for practicum and 6 credits for the final project.

Coordination of the Master's degree in Ophthalmology Nursing

The University Master’s Degree in Ophthalmological Nursing is an offer from the University of Valladolid that emerges from the need to train nurses in the ophthalmological field.

The new Nursing Specialties Law regulates the training of specialists in different areas in which nursing has a preponderant role, but in which there is no specific specialty for ophthalmological nursing since it is encompassed within a generic specialty: Medical-Surgical care

The University Master’s Degree in Ophthalmological Nursing is aimed at students and professionals who have completed the Nursing Degree or University Diploma in Nursing. Therefore, to all those nurses who want to expand their knowledge in ophthalmology and want to develop their professional career in ophthalmological nursing.

Overall Objective

The general objective of the University Master’s Degree in Ophthalmological Nursing is to train quality nurses to perform high-level ophthalmic nursing care.

To develop the necessary skills necessary to be able to:

  1. Take proper care of the ophthalmologic patient.
  2. Contribute to compliance with the most appropriate and effective medical treatments for each patient.
  3. Participate with the responsibilities of a nurse specialized in surgical activities.
  4. Manage and care for ophthalmic lenses and instruments.
  5. Properly solve the doubts that the patient and/or family may have.
  6. To develop general knowledge in research and clinical trials in the context of ophthalmology.
